Foundation Students Make a Splash
The Foundation students splashed their way through the final week of Term 3 as they completed their Swimming Week at Clovercrest State Swim pool.
Students learnt essential water activity skills such as floating, helping someone in trouble while at the side of the pool and different swimming strokes. Just in time for summer!

Year 3 - 6 Sports Day

Welcome back for Term 4 of our 2020 school year. I am going to state the obvious again and say I can honestly not remember any year quite like this one. Having said that, there are some things that are constant reminders of how blessed we are and how our kids have continued to learn and grow and how much they support and care for one another. As I was on duty on Monday morning, I saw two kids run to one another from metres apart, squealing with delight at seeing one another after the holiday break.
It was a timely reminder for me. I was focusing on all the “things” that must be done this term, the various activities we are trying to squeeze in from earlier in the year, and planning for 2021. The joy of those two little ones prompted me to enjoy those simple moments that shine such a light on everything else. During the holidays, Alison and I were driving through the Adelaide Hills and drove past a gate that had a bunch of flowers in a bucket with a For Sale sign on the front. I stopped and backed up the car and Alison picked out some proteas.
Over the next few days, I watched the flowers open in the vase on the kitchen bench. It is not a huge bouquet, just a couple of simple flowers, but every time I walk past, my thinking and outlook is changed. I was struck again by how the little things and moments can add a depth, beauty and perspective to the other aspects of our lives.
So as we begin the run into a very busy time of a very crazy year, I would encourage you to let those beautiful, simple moments that children provide so many of, colour the lists and the responsibilities of your adult world.
Have a great week with your kids,
Mark B
I Am the Resurrection and the Life
Have you ever received word that a close family member or friend is has had an accident or has become seriously ill? What do you do? You rush to be with them. That’s what you do for someone you love.
John chapter 11 begins with word reaching Jesus that Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, was gravely ill. All three siblings were extremely close to Jesus and the sisters knew how much Jesus loved their brother, so they sent urgent word to Him about Lazarus’ illness. They knew Jesus had the power to heal Lazarus so they assumed Jesus would rush to His close friend’s side and heal him.
An interesting thing happens next. Jesus does not rush to heal His friend as you might expect. He intentionally waits two more days before he went to see Lazarus. When He finally arrived, Lazarus had been dead for 4 days! Why would Jesus wait for his friend to die instead of rushing to his bedside?
Jesus was taken to the tomb where Lazarus was buried and He called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" Lazarus rose from the dead.
So why did Jesus wait to heal Lazarus? Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and the disciples had seen Jesus heal plenty of people, but He wanted them to see that He has the power over death. Jesus had a purpose of mercy toward those who had not received Him. His ultimate purpose was to give hope about the resurrection and to glorify God. Many people who witnessed this miracle came to believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Have a great week,

2020 School Improvement Survey
Later this week you will receive an invitation to participate in Adventist Schools Australia’s Parent Survey. We use the results from the School Improvement Survey to ensure that we provide, for our students, the best possible education experience. We need your help with this survey.
We will be sending home to you, a paper invitation to participate in this on-line survey. Every parent will be given a unique access code so that your opinions will be 100% anonymous. Parents' views assist us to provide a more accurate, reliable, and equitable picture than is obtained using only staff and student measures. We would like to encourage you to participate in this survey, as the more data gathered, the more this will assist us in providing the best possible educational experiences for our students.
The survey will be ‘live’ through to close of business on Friday 23rd of October.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this survey.

Parking Around The School
1. Parking out the front of the school-
We are noticing a lot of parents parking in the front area of the school, walking to the single gate and dropping off, only to return to the car minutes later and reversing out into traffic. We understand the convenience but parking here and reversing out is stopping the flow of traffic from the drive through zone. We are asking that if you are walking your child onto our school grounds or collecting them in the afternoons, please use the back car park.
2. Keeping the car park entrance clear
As mentioned in a hand out, it is very important that you please do not park in the entrance to the back car park. If the drive through line is full, please wait with your left indicator flashing while on Nelson Road. When the line starts to move, then feel free to move into the drive through zone but please don't block the car park entrance.
3. Turning left only out of car parks and drive through
In peak times, when families wait and try to turn right onto Wright Road from the drive through, it again, slows the whole drive through down - often to a complete stop. We are asking kindly that you turn left only out the drive through onto Wright Road.
4. Side gate reopened!
We have cleared the temporary storage near the Front Office and are happy to open this walkway again to allow an alternative entrance, rather than going through the Front Office.
Please remember the current restrictions still in place (No adults entering classrooms unless you sign on in the Front Office).
We hope to continue to develop the parking around the school so it runs as smoothly as possible.
