Our Year 1's back in the Olden Days
Our Year 1 classes have had some fun dressing up as students from the olden days, while learning all about schooling from long ago.

Year 1's and 5B bonding over Morning Tea.
Year 5B visited Mrs McGrath's Year 1 classroom today to share a special morning tea to go along with the Year 1's study of olden time schools!

I know it has been a long time coming, but over the next few weeks you will see work beginning on our Nature Playground where a house used to be on 346 Wright Road. We have been raising funds through our amazing CEC for the last 3 years or so and now things are coming to fruition. You will see some posters around the school that Miss Bernoth has made, indicating that things are getting underway soon and that there will be opportunities for families to contribute further financially if they would like. This can happen through something as simple as purchasing a family plaque through to sponsoring a whole piece of play equipment or area, if you would like.
We are so excited about the possibilities for learning that this development offers our staff and students, like investigating, problem solving, creativity, conflict resolution, controlled risk taking and getting kids in the great outdoors. We are hoping that this space becomes a place of learning during class times as well by creating more opportunities for taking learning outside the classroom. We are looking at possibilities for use by our older students as well, and also looking at ways we can develop our Middle and Upper students’ play area in the future.
One of the things we are really proud of is that many of the ideas for this project came from things our students came up with as a part of their learning. These were then passed on to Simon from Climbing Tree who took them and developed them even further. We think it is really important for our children to contribute to the development of the learning opportunities in our school. They have excelled again!
Below is a drawing of the proposed Nature Playground. Please have a look and I hope you will get as excited about I as I am.
Have a great week with your kids,
Mark B

You may have heard the story where Jesus speaks to a woman at a well. He asks her for water and by speaking to her, He sends the message that God loves everyone, no matter what their culture, their beliefs, their mistakes, He loves everyone. I read a quote the other week that said “There is nothing that you can do to stop God from loving you”, and I find great peace in knowing there isn’t anything I can do that will stop God from loving me.
But back to the story, the woman at the well had arrived at a time when she knew no one else would be there, she was ashamed and was trying to avoid others because of the things she had done, and then she met Jesus.
While the woman was speaking to Jesus he discovered that she has made one or two mistakes in her life, at the conclusion of her interaction with Jesus, she runs out into the town and tells anyone she can find about the man she met. Now these people knew her, they knew what she had done, but they also knew that up until this point she was ashamed, she was hiding from those around her, when she told the story of her time with Jesus, the others could already see the change in her life, they could already see that God was making a change, and they wanted to find out more, to find out how this “man” had been able to change with woman from being ashamed of her past, to boasting about it, so that people could see what Jesus had done.
John 4:39 tells us about the effect of her telling her story, “And many Samaritans (people who lived in Samaria, where this story took place) of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified”.
I want to encourage you that your testimony matters, that your story and the things God has done in your life, they matter, and they can make a difference. And the best part is that we don’t need to be ashamed of the mistakes we have made, we don’t need to worry about what other people think, because you know that the God of the universe cares about you, loves you and has forgiven you, so it doesn’t matter what people here think. After all, I’m more inclined to trust the God who created the universe and lives a perfect life, over another human who has also made mistakes.
2 Corinthians 12:9 talks about God’s grace being sufficient, and then because of this Paul (who we spoke about last week) says, “So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (NLT)
It excites me that even though we make mistakes and do the wrong thing, God can use that to speak to other people and to show how amazing His love is to those around us.
This week, I want to encourage you not to be ashamed of your past, but to boast, to share with others the change God has had in your life.
Hope Born - Chaplain

Asian Aid
On the last day of each term, students may come to school in casual clothes for a gold coin donation. The money raised is allocated to either a sister school project or to the sponsorship of a student through Asian Aid. This term’s funds will be set aside for Asian Aid.
In last week’s newsletter we included Sonia’s report card and today it’s Joshuwa’s turn. We trust you enjoy these little snippets of the lives of 2 children your donation makes a huge difference too.
If your family might like to sponsor your own child why not check out the Asian Aid website.
We also have a sponsorship container in the office, so if you have that extra change in your pocket, why not consider dropping it into that container.

SAPSASA Athletics
In Week 7, Prescott Primary Northern were represented at the SAPSASA District Sports Day by sixteen of our students from Year 4 - 7. The day allowed our students to display their talents in shot -put, discus, high jump, long jump, sprints and relays. A number of factors stood out as our team took to the track and field: determination, talent and comradery. While we continued through the day with some place getters and some not, as a group, our students persevered and even attempted new events for the first time.
I am excited to announce that four of our students have qualified for the next athletics day and they are Jonah Hatchard, Ashton Hong, Monique Badea and Seth Robson.
Thank you for the support of the families who cheered on our team, assisted the day to run smoother, and particularly Micah Hatchard for his foresight at events such as these.
Well done!
