Mother’s Day Stall
The annual Mother’s Day stall was once again a hive of interest for our students who keenly arrived to purchase something special for their mums, aunties and grandmas. Some new market sellers blessed the community with hand-made bath bombs and jewellery and were instrumental in the running of the day. Thank you, Vienna, Grace, Ruby and Imi for your awesome service and smiles.
We hope all our Prescott families had a wonderful time on the weekend celebrating the significant women in their lives and thank you for your support of the stall. The profit from this year’s stall will go towards future developments of our school grounds.

Cluck, Cluck, Hooray – Chickens Have Arrived at Prescott!
We’re so excited to announce that our chicken coop is finally open! After months of planning, our feathered friends joined us in Week 2—and the whole school has felt the buzz of excitement.
But it’s not just about fun. The chicken area is a special space for learning, connection, and wellbeing. Students can observe, feed, or even hold a chicken (with a staff member). It also offers a quiet spot for kids who need a calm break with a trusted adult like our chaplain, counsellor Ali, or a teacher.
To make sure everyone can enjoy this space safely, we have emailed families a quick permission form. Students can only take part in chicken activities with guardian approval. Activities might include:
- Watching the chickens (inside or outside the coop)
- Feeding healthy treats
- Holding a chicken with a staff member
- Spending time nearby in the Year 6-run garden
Safety is a top priority, with:
- Gated entry and adult supervision
- Hand sanitiser use
- Clean shoes before/after visiting
- Lessons on how to safely interact with animals
Participation is always optional. Students who choose not to join in will stay with their class and take part from a nearby space.
Later this year, we hope to collect our first eggs! Our Year 6s will then launch a weekly Farmer’s Market selling eggs and garden produce—a great way to learn about sustainability and leadership.
Keep an eye out for the profile update in your inbox!!
Nature Play
An invitation to play was set up for our PPN artists where they could use the nature brushes and paint to explore the different textures.
What did the children learn? As the children engaged with the nature brushes, there was a variety of learning that took place:
- Engaging with natural items
- Openly exploring imagination and creativity
- Exploring a new type of art tool
- Exploring textures and patterns
- Cause and effect
- Hand-eye coordination
- Fine-motor control
Each week, our lower primary students rush to find out “what is on offer today?” and today was no exception. These brushes were made from the trees in our school garden and can be a fun family activity for you to try with your kids. With the beautiful Autumn weather we are experiencing now, coupled with the stunning range of red, orange and yellow leaves splattered around the streets of Adelaide, maybe you could take advantage of this on the weekend. Be blessed – God’s creation is stunning!
What do you think of our new restaurant menu? Line up to place your order – this mud play café is so popular you need to make a reservation!

Can we do this every week?
There are some experiences in life that leave you yearning for more of the same experience to get deeper engaged in whatever you are doing. Last week, we had our Week Of Worship (WOW—as we call it). This was a time of regular meetings to play Bible games, sing songs and listen to Pastor Matt Hunter explore the idea of Jesus as the Rock on which we build. At the end of the week, on Friday night, some students and families attended the final worship service. Following this, one of the students who had been assisting with the programs as a junior chaplain chatting with me commented that it was so lovely and could we do daily worships every week at school in the same manner that WOW had run.
Some things leave lasting positive impressions on our lives. I am certain that for this student and a few others, the effects of WOW will continue for the rest of their lives. I wonder what experiences you engage yourself in have long lasting positive effects on your life; experiences that you can reflect on for inspiration and encouragement even in tough moments in life and be encouraged to carry on doing your best with whatever lies before you.
As we work together in the third week of this term, let us build on the highlights of the time that has gone past. In this third week of the Term 2, make some time to reflect on things that have made you exclaim, wow!! Capture those moments as reference points to the foundation on which you build your life and do not forget God’s goodness towards you.
Good afternoon, Prescott Family.
As a child with big, open, and wondering eyes, I would often get into things I shouldn’t. I was accustomed to the famous lines of “don’t touch that” or “get out of there”. One occasion I was in my dad’s shed, which was always filled with shiny things I was not meant to touch and found a brand new tin of car paint (see, shiny things always get you), my brother had been using them earlier in the week to spray paint his car. Well, being the creative type I am, I thought the side of my house was a bit too plain and proceeded to make a beautiful mural of my five-year-old hands in bright red paint. Not my finest moment. I later came crying into the house after not being able to wash off the paint. I was literally caught red-handed with my fingerprints everywhere.
So many times in life, we fixate on the shiny new thing, the distraction or things that we shouldn’t be in, reasoning to ourselves, it doesn’t look that bad, in fact, it looks shiny and pretty, how could God not want this in my life? I mean, He does want the best for my life, right? This must be something that He would want me to have! I ignore all the obvious signs. I ignore the fact that God so clearly knows so much better than I do. That He knows everything. He knows the consequences that I cannot see and haven’t even considered. I forget that I should trust in Him and His instruction.
Sin begins by us focusing on ourselves, and what we want or what feels best right now. Which, of course, results in us losing sight of the bigger picture. We lose sight of God, the people around us and what is best in the long run.
Looking at the story of Saul, he was anointed by God to be the first king of Israel, and everything was great until Saul decided to start doing what he thought was best, which resulted in him being rejected by God and Daivd being anointed the new king.
My encouragement for you this week is to know, throughout everything that is happening in your life this week, don’t lose sight of what God has instore for you. Remember that God cares, He loves you, and He can’t wait until we all get to be together forever. With no more death, pain, or tears.
This world is temporary, but our friendship with God, that is eternal! God is literally the definition of a best friend for life, and He has your best interests at heart! Focus on him, and not the shiny distractions.
Blessings,
Pr Andy.
Sleep tips for tired kids (and adults)
The SBS recently produced a series called Australia’s Sleep Revolution < Watch Australia's Sleep Revolution with Dr Michael Mosley | Stream free on SBS On Demand>. Based out of a sleep study institute at South Australia’s own Flinders University, the series follows a number of people who are struggling with poor sleep and the impact it is having on their life and wellbeing. It is a great watch – particularly, as many of the interventions are easy to replicate ourselves at home.
Adults and children alike benefit from a healthy sleep life. Often even the easy answers feel difficult to implement without a shove in the right direction. So, for the benefit of our students (and their parents) take a look at the two clips below.
