Yr 1 Royal Adelaide Show
In Visual Arts during Terms 1 & 2 our Year 1 students had fun experimenting with various art techniques. They used drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and textiles to create their individual pieces of artwork. The students then chose their favourite piece to enter in the Junior Art, Craft and Design section of the Royal Adelaide Show.
Many of the students then took pleasure in going to the show to see if they managed to win one of the prizes. Schools from all over South Australia enter the show and so it was great to see our artwork hanging up amongst everyone's work.
Prescott Primary Northern were very lucky to receive 15 winners from a variety of sections. The Yr 3 & 4 Art club that meets each Monday lunchtime also entered some of their artwork, and Samaira from Yr 4 was recognised for her 'Painting in the style of an artist she had studied this year'. Well done budding artists we are so proud of you all!
Foundation Swimming
The Foundations are ending Term 3 with a serious splash! As part of our annual Swim Safe Week, our youngest students are visiting the Clovercrest pool everyday this week to improve their swimming and water safety skills under the guidance of specially trained swim instructors. As we head into the warmer months of spring and summer, and our beaches and pools get even more popular, these skills are vital part of becoming safe, confident swimmers and people. By the looks of it, Swim Safe Week is a lot of fun and a great success!
On Monday we had the privilege of hosting the Edinburgh College Band for two special musical performances. Edinburgh College is one of our sister schools from Melbourne and they spent a week in South Australia, visiting and performing at a variety of schools and churches. The Edinburgh College band consists of abut 30 high school students, mostly Year 7 and 8 students, as well as some staff members who mentor and encourage the students with their performance skills. Not only did they play some entertaining songs for us, but they also went through some of the instruments, how they work, and the sounds that they make.
At the end of the performance, one of the staff from Edinburgh College explained that all the instruments in the band have a special purpose and that while they look different and sound different, when they are played together, they create an amazing sound – music!
Tomorrow night our Middle Primary students will be coming together to share a musical in front of family and friends. It will be the culmination of many, many weeks of planning, coordinating and rehearsing. Endless hours have gone into learning songs, creating props and making costumes. Each person’s role in this process is essential and valuable, but on their own does not make a musical. It is when all the different roles come together that we can experience something awesome.
We are already so proud of our students for the work that they have put into the Middle Primary Musical this year and can’t wait to celebrate their performance with them. I also want to acknowledge the staff who have worked together to create this wonderful opportunity and appreciate the extra time and effort that they have put in.
We are almost at the end of Term 3 and the holidays are almost upon us. I hope that you enjoy the change of pace and the extra time to spend with your children over the next 2 weeks. We look forward to seeing our students back for the start of Term 4 on October 14th.

As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honourable we bestow the greater honour, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honour to the part that lacked it..
Hey PPN Family,
I have been going to my gym for the last four weeks and I am really having a fun time trying to “do the new me.” For full disclosure I have been a member of my gym for over five months now and before I returned a few weeks ago I had only visited my gym 3 times in over 4 months.
But then that all changed 4 weeks ago when I went once. And then I went twice the week after that. And then I went 4 times last week, and I’m on track to hit it 4 times again this week.
Now I am not saying that I am ready to compete at the Olympics or to break any world records, but by God’s power I am slowly changing my lifestyle and my waistline at the same time.
One of the power verses that has really encouraged me to stay faithful to my training over the last few weeks is Proverbs 21:31 (NIRV) which says, “You can prepare a horse for the day of battle. But the power to win comes from the Lord.”
Back in ancient times they had to train the horses to be battle ready and tested so that they did not freak out in the heat of battle. So, King Solomon reminds us in this proverb that we need to do our part by training and preparing, but at the end of the day the power to win comes from God.
This gives us the hope that no matter what challenges we face in life, God’s power is always there to help us. We don’t have to do it all in our own strength. As the old saying goes, “We just have to do our best, and then we can trust God with the rest.”
So let God give you the victory today. Let Him fill you the joy, peace and power that comes from knowing that if God is fighting for you, who can be against you (Romans 8:31).
God bless,
Roland Talamaivao-Amituanai
The eSafety Guide
One of the great resources available from The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is their regularly updated eSafety Guide.
The guide provides parents with an update to date list of apps and other websites that their children may be exposed to, and outlines the content, risks and appropriate uses of these sites for various ages.
As we enter into the school holidays, where our children often have more screen time, parents are encouraged to check out this resource, and the other tools provided by the eSafety Commissioner.

Thank you too for ensuring your fees are up to date as we enter into Term 4.
Class Placement Considerations
