Leadership Remarks

On Monday we had the privilege of hosting the Edinburgh College Band for two special musical performances. Edinburgh College is one of our sister schools from Melbourne and they spent a week in South Australia, visiting and performing at a variety of schools and churches. The Edinburgh College band consists of abut 30 high school students, mostly Year 7 and 8 students, as well as some staff members who mentor and encourage the students with their performance skills. Not only did they play some entertaining songs for us, but they also went through some of the instruments, how they work, and the sounds that they make.

At the end of the performance, one of the staff from Edinburgh College explained that all the instruments in the band have a special purpose and that while they look different and sound different, when they are played together, they create an amazing sound – music!

Tomorrow night our Middle Primary students will be coming together to share a musical in front of family and friends. It will be the culmination of many, many weeks of planning, coordinating and rehearsing. Endless hours have gone into learning songs, creating props and making costumes. Each person’s role in this process is essential and valuable, but on their own does not make a musical. It is when all the different roles come together that we can experience something awesome.

We are already so proud of our students for the work that they have put into the Middle Primary Musical this year and can’t wait to celebrate their performance with them. I also want to acknowledge the staff who have worked together to create this wonderful opportunity and appreciate the extra time and effort that they have put in.

We are almost at the end of Term 3 and the holidays are almost upon us. I hope that you enjoy the change of pace and the extra time to spend with your children over the next 2 weeks. We look forward to seeing our students back for the start of Term 4 on October 14th.

1 Corinthians 12:20-25ESV

As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honourable we bestow the greater honour, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honour to the part that lacked it..
