School Highlights
Yr 1 Royal Adelaide Show
In Visual Arts during Terms 1 & 2 our Year 1 students had fun experimenting with various art techniques. They used drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and textiles to create their individual pieces of artwork. The students then chose their favourite piece to enter in the Junior Art, Craft and Design section of the Royal Adelaide Show.
Many of the students then took pleasure in going to the show to see if they managed to win one of the prizes. Schools from all over South Australia enter the show and so it was great to see our artwork hanging up amongst everyone's work.
Prescott Primary Northern were very lucky to receive 15 winners from a variety of sections. The Yr 3 & 4 Art club that meets each Monday lunchtime also entered some of their artwork, and Samaira from Yr 4 was recognised for her 'Painting in the style of an artist she had studied this year'. Well done budding artists we are so proud of you all!
Foundation Swimming
The Foundations are ending Term 3 with a serious splash! As part of our annual Swim Safe Week, our youngest students are visiting the Clovercrest pool everyday this week to improve their swimming and water safety skills under the guidance of specially trained swim instructors. As we head into the warmer months of spring and summer, and our beaches and pools get even more popular, these skills are vital part of becoming safe, confident swimmers and people. By the looks of it, Swim Safe Week is a lot of fun and a great success!
