Year 6 Canberra Trip
Foundation Play Date
Our annual Foundation Play Date is a very special time for the Foundation students and their parents, special people, and younger siblings to connect in our Nature Play space.
The theme for the morning was ‘Living and Non-Living Things’. Armed with their treasure map, the students were excited to learn, create and observe. Their creativity and imagination showed in the creatures that were painted onto rocks, moulded in salt dough and in the cubbies, they built using the loose parts. The students were very excited to meet a very special living thing, Miss Bernoth’s dog Indi, and their younger siblings were also able to have lots of pats and cuddles.
As always, the reading space was filled with parents and students sharing some books from our library and the parents were able to play with their child and connect with other parents in our community. The Autumn weather was delightful and the drinks were delicious, and there were many happy faces enjoying some quality time playing and learning together.

Easter Walkthrough
Easter is a time to celebrate with family and friends. Most importantly, it is the heart of the Biblical Gospel that centres around the gift of life that Jesus gave to us on the cross. This week, students at Prescott Primary Northern have participated in the Easter Walk, through the Nature Play space, interacting with the story of Jesus and displays to bring a deeper understanding of the beautiful gift of grace.
The students were led through the Nature Play space and were told the beautiful Easter story, interacting with the props as their teachers shared each part of the story. The older students paused to write short messages to represent their thankfulness for the gift of life that Jesus provided for us. They then rolled up the messages and placed them on the cross. The blessed hope that Jesus is alive gives us purpose for the future. It was a blessing to see each teacher share the powerful story of Jesus, and the true meaning behind Easter.

This weekend is Easter weekend. Easter is a really important time for Christians. It is a time when we remember the final part of Jesus' life. Jesus' death on the Friday and resurrection on Sunday morning form the basis of the Christian belief that Jesus can give us the gift of eternal life because He overcame death.
I really love that rather than me having to gain divinity somehow, God became human in the form of Jesus, and I can share in that.
I have been reading some of the other parts of the Easter story this week. There was one episode that really stood out for me. Jesus went to the Temple, the centre of religious life in the city of Jerusalem. What he saw was that there was a business running in the place where people from other cultures and backgrounds were to come and worship. Jesus' response to this was one of the strongest reactions we read about to anything in His life. He tipped the tables over and sent all of the traders away.
I think some of that response's strength comes from the idea of commercialising and monetising something for selfish financial gain, which is essentially a spiritual encounter. I wonder whether another part of the strength of the response can be attributed to the fact that some people were being denied spiritual growth opportunities because someone else was making some financial gain. I think Jesus was making a powerful statement to us about the importance of our spiritual journey and the importance of encouraging the spiritual journey of all around us.
At this Easter time, I would like to encourage you to spend some time reflecting on your relationship with God and make a commitment to deepen your spiritual experiences this year.
Have a great long weekend with our kids.

Hey PPN Family,
We had a great trip with the Year 6’s to Canberra last week and during that time we did a lot of memorable things. One of the biggest highlights for me was going to the Australian War Memorial and taking part in a private Wreath Ceremony with our students, Tony Zappia (Federal MP for Makin), Matt Anderson (the Director of the War Memorial), and a few other dignitaries.
As the officer played, “The Last Post,” on the trumpet, it was emotional to think about the 103,000 Australians who had sacrificed their lives for our country. It was even more distressing to think that war was never a part of God’s plan.
In the beginning God created a perfect world, but all of this was ruined when Adam and Eve sinned. Because of this, we are now living in a world where humans sometimes choose to hurt one another.
It was into this broken world that God sent Jesus to save us from sin and death. In John 3:16-17 (NIV) we read, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
This Easter weekend, may we take some time to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Jesus died so that one day (hopefully soon), we can be reunited with God and our loved ones in heaven, where war will be a thing of the past.
God bless,
Roland Talamaivao-Amituanai
Dear parents,
Wow, Term One has almost finished, and a school holiday break is nearly here.
Children look forward to school holidays and by the end of the holidays most children look forward to being back at school and seeing their teachers and friends again.
Some children and parents struggle with returning to school after the holidays due to a break in school routines. If your family struggles with school drop-offs and separation worries, then this may be a difficult time for you.
Maybe as a parent you have other worries about your child’s wellbeing while they are at school?
If you would you like to learn more about how to support your child’s emotional development or build your child’s social skills and learning capacity then this new initiative is for you.
Starting in Term Two, you are invited to drop in once a month for a hot drink, meet other parents/carers and learn from our PPN Wellbeing team (school counsellor and Chaplain), as part of the PPN Parent’s Wellbeing Group.
These sessions will be held on the first Wednesday of every month at 9am.

Year 3-6 Middle/Upper Sports Day
This is a reminder that we are just around the corner from our Middle/Upper Year 3-6 Sports Day on the 12th of April 2023 (Wednesday, Week 11)! This will once again be held at Bridgestone Athletics Centre. Below is the program for the day.
Students will need to bring their school hat, enough water for the day, plenty of food/snacks and come dressed in their school sport uniform. Students will be provided with a coloured band to match their Sport House. No face paint, coloured hairspray, streamers etc.
Parents are invited to attend, but must remain on the outside of the field behind the fence. Please stay at home if you are unwell.
Please note that Sports Day is an official school day, therefore your child will be in the care of their teacher for the entirety of the day and must stay with their class. If you selected to transport your child to or from the Athletics Centre, you will need to sign them in with their teacher once they arrive and sign out with the teacher at the conclusion of the program.
If your child is catching the bus from school to the Athletics Centre, please make sure they are at school on time, so we can leave as soon as possible.
We look forward to a fantastic Sports Day together!!
