Interschool Chess Champs for Term 1
On Monday the 29th of March, a team of 13 players travelled to Tyndale Christian School to participate in the Interschool Chess Tournament for this term.
It was an exciting day, with Prescott finishing in first place! Many players had their best tournament with 7 receiving gold medals. We especially congratulate Aishwarya who also won the best player of the day (the only person to win all of her games) and also finishing as top girl player of the tournament!
Congratulations to the whole team for your wonderful sportsmanship and great play.

Nature Play Easter Walk
The Gift of Jesus Christ
The heart of the Biblical Gospel centres around the gift of life that Jesus gave to us on the cross. This week, students at Prescott Primary Northern have participated in the Easter Walk, through the Nature Playground, interacting with the story of Jesus and displays to bring a deeper understanding of the gift of grace. Students paused to write short messages to represent their thankfulness for the gift of new life that Jesus provided for us. They then rolled up the messages and placed them on the cross. The blessed hope that Jesus has risen gives us hope and purpose for the future. For each teacher to share with their students the power of this significant time and to share the true meaning behind Easter was magnificent.
Easter is coming up this weekend and I want to share a story from a few years ago. Some would say I am a pioneer, I'm sure others would disagree. I invented something that no one else I have spoken to, has ever considered. I was sitting around a campfire at Easter about to have breakfast. We had some crumpets and I decided to put an easter egg on a crumpet that we were cooking over the open fire. It began to melt through the crumpet and resembled a Nutella soaked breakfast treat. I received ridicule from some of my family, however, when the final product was shown around, everyone quickly changed their minds! If you ask my children what their memories of that weekend are, it was when dad made the easter egg crumpet and let them eat chocolate for breakfast!
I'm sure there will be lots of children around the world getting quite excited at the prospects of receiving chocolate easter eggs over the weekend! When I think of Easter, I think of times spent away from home, camping by the river. Enjoying easter egg hunts and eating far too much chocolate. I have been extremely lucky that over the years, we often went camping, water skiing and made memories by spending time together. I think of all the sacrifices my family made so we could have those opportunities- it was amazing. As a father now, we try and recreate these experiences with our kids.
To some, Easter is a few days off work/school, eating eggs and not doing a lot at all. This Easter may be different due to some existing COVID restrictions, however, the message is the same as it always has been. We, as Christians, believe and know that Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus three days after His crucifixion. Each year we celebrate Easter to remind us that this occurred over 2000 years ago. That Jesus would be persecuted, die for our sins, and rise on the third day. I try to put myself in the shoes of the people around Jesus at the time, His disciples and followers. All hope would have been lost when Jesus was crucified, yet three days later, He was walking amongst them. Jesus said this would happen but I'm sure my faith would have been tested if I had been there in that time. Going from the sadness of losing someone you love and seeing them pass, to the amazing joy of seeing them again three days later - I am not sure how I would have fared!
Luke 24 (NIV) says it like this -
'On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’
As we celebrate Easter this weekend, I encourage you to spend some time with family, make memories and remember why we have this time away from normality. To celebrate that Jesus was resurrected after dying for our sins. I'm sure a cheeky easter egg or seven wouldn't hurt either.
Have an amazing rest of the week and weekend with your families.

HiStory our Story
Pr Roland and I had the privilege of leading groups of students through the Easter walk that Mrs Harder created in the nature play area. It highlighted the Biblical Easter story of Jesus death and resurrection.
The students have written the notes that accompany the following pictures of the Easter walk through.
The story of Easter more than Jesus’ death on the cross, it is the fact that Jesus rose and lives today. He defeated death.
This Easter, why not look at the true story of Easter with your family found in Luke chapter 22 to 24.

Parent Teacher Interviews 2021
In the past, our Parent Teacher Interviews have run at the end of Term 2 once Mid Year Reports have been sent home. This year, we are bringing this interview process forward to the beginning of Term 2. Our teachers would love the opportunity to connect with our families to discuss their child's learning journey so far and work together to establish goals for the remainder of the year. Parent Teacher Interviews will run on Tuesday afternoon, the 4th of May from 4:00pm onwards, and Wednesday half day, the 5th of May, from 1:15pm onwards. This will mean our students will have a half day on the 5th of May, finishing school at 12:45pm. Please plan for this accordingly. Parents will be able to book into these sessions at the beginning of Term 2, following steps that will be emailed out once bookings are available.
Casual Day—Friday April 9
On the last day of each term, students may come to school in casual clothes only if they bring a gold coin donation. Please note that students need to remember as they choose which clothes they would like to wear for casual day that they need to dress appropriately. Their clothes should cover their bodies in the same way that their uniform does and their shoes should be appropriate for running and playing.
The money raised this way is allocated to either a sister school project or to Asian Aid.
This term’s funds will be set aside for Asian Aid.
Due to the COVID situation the money donated will go towards the health, welfare and safety of the children we sponsor in any way possible under the country’s government guidelines. Asian Aid is working at improving the school environments, increase teacher training and support materials, so that once students can return to school, they return to a better environment than they had when they left. Most importantly the aim is to channel funds to where the needs are most required and where the children would be benefitted the best. Thank you so much for your ongoing generosity towards these projects.
