Principal's Remarks
I have recently enjoyed some time away with some of my family, and I am glad to be back here at school with our Prescott Community. One of the memorable things that happened while I was away was watching the sunset at Uluru. We prepared our evening meal and sat and watched for over an hour and a half as the sun sank in the western sky. When we first arrived, it was a magnificent view, but as the minutes ticked by, the scene changed to the point where magnificent became breathtaking. Below are a couple of pictures taken from pretty much the same place. I think they illustrate what I am talking about.
The scenario got me thinking about a couple of things. Firstly, our children and how we view them. There is much research around how children respond to how they are perceived and what is expected of them. If we view our kids as the incredible human beings they are, with incredible potential, there is a far greater chance of them seeing themselves in the same way. The opposite is also true. View children as self-centred beings who impinge upon our lives, then that message will be received and acted upon. Where the light hits them when we look on them and interacts with them is vital to what message we give to them.
The second thing it got me thinking about was when the light of God shines upon His children, and they light up. When the God of the universe shines His light on us, when His grace reflects upon our lives, it changes the everyday into endless possibilities. There is a beautiful passage in the Bible called Aaron’s Blessing, and it says,
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24 - 26
Have a great week with your kids,
