PE Week 2020

ICAS and AMC Results

Last Thursday during our Chapel program, 82 students were awarded certificates for their efforts in this year’s ICAS and AMC Competitions. Together these students sat 260 individual exams in English, Mathematics, Science, Digital Technologies and Spelling during Term 3. These are international competitions with thousands of children from all over the world participating. High Distinctions are given to students receiving results in the top 1%, Distinctions are awarded to students receiving results in the next 10%, Credits are given to students results in the next 25%. Academically, Prescott again performed very strongly with:

4 High Distinctions awarded

28 Distinctions awarded

94 Credits awarded

Two very special awards were also announced for outstanding performances from Jeslet Joy in Year 5, receiving a medal for a perfect score for Spelling and the highest mark for SA and NT combined!

Shudhit Mittal in Year 6, will also receive a medal for the highest mark in English for SA and NT!

We congratulate all students that participated in these very challenging exams. Distinctions, High Distinctions and medals will be given out at a later program once restrictions ease.

Year 2 Science

This term in Year 2 Science, as a part of our Growing and Changing Unit, we have had baby chickens and eggs in our classroom. We have been looking at how babies are different from their parents and how some babies hatch from eggs. We have had the wonderful experience of watching 14 little baby chickens hatch in an incubator and then watched them grow and change for two weeks.

Hahndorf Farm Barn

What a wonderful visit Year 2 had to the Hahndorf Farm Barn on Monday! After a lovely drive up through the hills we arrived and had the opportunity to pat and feed lambs, calves, chicks, guinea pigs, rabbits, emus, goats, donkeys and ducks.  We then watched the milking show and all had the chance to milk the farm's beautiful cow, Daisy. After lunch and a fun play on the farm's play equipment, we swapped groups and fed and played with another collection of animals. Before we left, we saw the reptile show. We learned all about snakes, pythons and lizards. The students represented Prescott so well and we are so grateful to all the volunteers who came with us.
