Principal's Remarks
Every morning at school we have staff worship with all the teachers and support staff. It's a great time to hear the thoughts and ideas from our staff as they lead us each morning. Last term, we were discussing mountaintop experiences; times where you have been on top of the world in any experience you are currently in. I was reflecting after the worship and it got me thinking about my personal mountain top experiences.
We were lucky enough during the holidays to get out of Adelaide and drive to West SA along the coast and the Gawler Ranges. We packed the car, loaded the tent and all our food then set off not knowing what to expect as we had never been there before. We spent some time in the Gawler Ranges, exploring the area for a few days, then moved onto the coast. We endured some very cold nights (minus 3 degrees!) and had some fantastic times together.
When we arrived on the coast, we weren't ready for what we were about to experience - white sandy beaches, huge sand dunes to 4WD in, whales frolicking in the ocean and the most important part- almost no other people around! At one point, we drove up to the top of a rocky point and the warm winter sun was just setting as we watched 2 whales splash around off the coast. I was reflecting again and thought that this was a mountaintop experience for me right now. I was with my family with no one else around, watching whales swim around with not a care in the world.
Returning from the holidays, I always find it hard to get back into the routines of life. I almost feel that instead of a mountaintop experience, I find myself in the valley where problems get thrown at us constantly. It's in these times that we lean on others around to help get us back on track.
As we continue with our year, I trust that you too can find moments this term where you experience the mountaintop experiences.
Have a great term with your family and welcome back to Term 3!
