WOW 2020

WOW, what a week! (pardon the pun).

WHY JESUS? JESUS WHY? Was our theme for our ‘Week Of Worship’ program last week. We were blessed to have Pr Rangi from Sydney come and speak to the students.  He was an amazing speaker and the students greatly enjoyed not just his talks, but the whole program.

Highlights of the week included:

  • Great Talks – Pr Rangi shared personal stories intertwined with stories from the Bible.
  • Amazing Music – Our band lead out in some great songs over the week. Our theme song was ‘Nobody Loves Me Like You Do Jesus’ by Chris Tomlin.  Click on the following link to watch and listen to the song.  https://youtu.be/SG_IXFEO8yE.  Thank you to the team for their uplifting music over the week.
  • Themed Lanyards – On Day One, each student received a special themed lanyard that they wore for the week.
  • Collector Cards – Each day students received a specially designed and printed card with the day’s Bible verse on it.  Students collected one card each day and the 6th card on Friday night.  If students were lucky enough to find a coloured dot on the back of their card, they received a reward at lunchtime that day.
  • Professor Dynamite – Students looked forward to ‘Professor Dynamite’ who visited each day.  He performed visually exciting science experiments to reinforce the main concept or message from the day’s program.  His hair was wild, he wore a very unique purple outfit and wowed students in an engaging and interactive way.
  • Connect 4 Dinner – 170+ people joined us for our Connect 4 Dinner at the conclusion of the week.  Families and students enjoyed the final WOW program and then joined together in the hall for some great food.  Families were able to connect with one another over dinner.  A huge thank you to those who helped us with the food, hall setup and packing up afterwards.  Your assistance was greatly appreciated.  Our next ‘Connect 4’ event is planned for later this term, so please look out for the upcoming posters and emails.
  • Specially Themed Chruch - A BIG thank you to the SSOs who helped Pr Roland and I set up the church to make it special for the students.  The new scenes each day were awesome and appreciated by all.
