Year 6 & 7 Ankara Trip

To celebrate the end of primary school, the Year  6 and 7 went to the Ankara Campsite at Walker Flat. We participated in many fun activities such as riding behind the boats on the G -force, swimming, competing on the obstacle course and chilling in the sun. The highlight would have been when we sat at the lookout at sunset and talked about the year. Thanks to our teachers and friends for such a memorable time.

Woolworths and Landcare Australia Grant

Prescott Primary Northern received some exciting news this week! Woolworths and Landcare Australia have offered our school a grant for  $918.00, to go towards our ‘Composting and Waste Management’ project.

As a whole school, we will be growing the next generation of environmental champions by introducing composting at our school next year. Each class will be supplied with a small compost bin where they can collect their brain food scraps each day. Larger compost bins will be situated next to our Kitchen Garden in the Nature Playground. All of the compost will go towards adding vital nutrients to our Kitchen Garden which will be tended to by all classes throughout the year.

Thank you to Woolworths and Landcare Australia for supporting our school in this vision.

4x4 Challenge- STEM Yr 6/7

Throughout the year, some Year 6/7 students were involved in a STEM club that participated in the Land Rover 4x4 challenge. Their task was to design, build and test a 4x4 car and eventually drive it on a specially designed track. The students all worked cooperatively and last week, presented their cars to their parents and friends. We had 2 special judges (Mr Borresen and Miss Bernoth) and after a lengthy presentation process, the judges decided that Team Meridian were able to tick a lot of the criteria off that they were required to. A huge thank you to Mr Koczwara for helping throughout the year, the students and the parents who supported us as we trialled this in 2019.

Our Graduating Students led out in WOW

On Thursday and Friday last week, our Year 6 and 7 classes led out in WOW programs. These students put the program together, led out in worship, wrote scripts, created videos, presented plays, painted, led out in ice-breakers, and paid tribute to the teachers who have taught them throughout their primary school years. What a wonderful time we shared together with our graduating classes.

Science Week Competition Winners

During Science Week, a competition was held where students were required to invent either a space ship or a space contraption. The five winners of this competition received the privilege of naming their own star. Each student received a personalised certificate listing the coordinates and name of their very own star! Congratulations to the winners.
