Chaplain's Corner
Each recess and lunch time there are a plethora of students who converge on the chaplain’s office to learn to play the Ukulele. We started out with 6 Ukuleles and now we are up to 15 with many more on the waiting list. As students learn to play they get excited about playing with some even purchasing their own instrument.
Did you know that making music with other people (like in a band or choir) improves children’s social and emotional skills? They learn to work together as a team and develop their sense of empathy with others. Researchers have found that when children play music together – from simple rhythms to larger group performances –they are better able to tune into other people’s emotions.
Music can give children a way to express themselves, to unleash their creativity, to be inspired and uplifted, to relax, and to relieve stress and tension. Music can make your heart sing!
We look forward to preforming at chapel next term.
