Principal's Remarks
This week marks a bit of a milestone for us here at Prescott Primary Northern. When I arrived here about 6 years ago, I read a letter that Shane Blake (our previous Principal) had written about us moving towards being a paperless school. In a place like a school which is steeped in the traditions of the pen and paper, this is an optimistic goal. However, this week will be our first step to families receiving School Reports online. You will receive instructions about how to access your child’s report through our SEQTA platform, which is our student management system. You will be able to log on and view and even download a copy of the Report. In future, you will be able to access past Reports from here as well.
Our children’s learning journeys are not just about achievement levels on a page. One of the most important ways of helping our children grow and develop is family and teacher communication. We recognise the importance of this and have made some changes to our Parent Teacher discussion nights. We have extended each session from 15 minutes to 20 minutes and we have also increased the times teachers are available to include 2 evenings and one afternoon. I would like to thank the staff for being willing to give extra of their time for the benefit of our children and their families.
The other part of the paper war we would like to tackle is in our forms to do with excursions and consent for various activities. In the coming weeks, you will also receive information about a platform called Consent2Go.
This program will help us minimise paperwork and keep on top of excursion forms, changing contact details and medical details for our students. I would really appreciate you taking the time and making the effort to follow the instructions that come to you and get on board to help us provide the most streamlined and comprehensive service we can for families.
I look forward to catching up with many of you at our Parent Teacher nights next week.
Finally, Miss Bernoth has headed off for several weeks leave over in Europe. We wish her safe travels and all of God’s blessing. If you have any questions or concerns for matters she has been working with, please direct them to Mr Davis or myself.
Have a great week with your kids,
Mark B
