Chaplains Remarks
Afternoon Prescott Family,
Coming to you live (and surviving Year 5 camp) from Ballarat. At Sovereign Hill, it's hard to escape the echoes of the gold rush and the impact it had on this town. Imagine the fervor, the relentless digging, the hopeful gleam in the eyes of prospectors dreaming of striking it rich. They sifted through tonnes of earth, endured hardship, and risked everything for the chance to unearth a precious nugget. As I reflect on this part of our history, it gets me thinking: you are a treasure far more valuable than any gold ever discovered in these Victorian hills.
In God's eyes, you are not just another face in the crowd, another speck of dust on this earth. You are intentionally created, wonderfully made, and deeply loved. The scriptures tell us that we are His "masterpiece" (Ephesians 2:10), His "chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession" (1 Peter 2:9).
Think about the relentless pursuit of gold during the rush. Prospectors wouldn't give up easily. They would tirelessly pan through muddy waters, chipping away at rocks, driven by the belief that something precious lay hidden beneath the surface.
Similarly, God's love for you is unwavering and persistent. He sees the worth within you, even when you might not see it yourself. He doesn't give up on you. He patiently works in your life, refining you, polishing you, revealing the brilliance He placed within you from the very beginning.
Blessings and wishing you all wonderful holidays.
Pr Andy.
