Year 6 Measuring in the School Yard
Our Year 6 students have been busy measuring things around the school yard. They've been using a trundle wheel to measure different objects and figure out their perimeter and area in millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), and meters (m).
Here’s What They’ve Been Doing:
- Exploring the school yard.
- Finding 10 different objects to measure.
- Using the trundle wheel to calculate the perimeter and area of each object.
Great job on all the measuring!

PPN Family Play Date
School is normally a pretty quiet place on a Sunday morning. Things changed last Sunday when our young friends of PPN and their families joined us for the PPN Family Playdate. While our Playdates @ Prescott normally happen on a weekday morning, this months event allowed parents who may be working to join us and join in the fun.

Fizzy Water Play
This week, in the Nature Play Space, was fizztacular with a fizzy creation of bicarb soda and gelatine, and mixing it with vinegar to make it react. To make the fizzy blocks, gelatine and bicarb soda were mixed together, before some water and a touch of colour was put into the mix and mixed them together. It was then spooned into an ice cube tray, then popped them into the freezer overnight. We then had a beautiful table of containers, bowls, spoons and other mud kitchen materials to make a fizzy colourful mud kitchen play at lunch time. The students were amazed to see the fizzy bombs at work, instantly reacting with the vinegar to create a bubbly colourful volcano. There were lots of smiles and a lot of fun was had mixing the different materials together.
Will you try making fizzy bicarb soda bombs to play with at your house this week?
