Book Week

Welcome to Term 3! A lot is going on in the library this term. We have Book Week in week 5, followed by a Scholastic Book Fair in Week 6. In term 3 we also finish up the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Keep checking the newsletter for important information about all of these events.
Book Week 2024
A special team of staff are excitedly preparing lots of fun activities for Book Week in week 5. There are a few events during the week that parents and families need to take note of.

Book Week Parade

This will take place on Friday August 23. This is the concluding event of Book Week and an opportunity for students and staff to come dressed as their favourite book character. Parents and families are welcome to come along to watch. There will also be a chance for younger siblings to show off their Book Week costumes as well.

Book Week Competition
There are 3 competitions for Book Week this year. F - Year 2 students will be taking part in a colouring in competition. Year 3 & 4 students are encouraged to create a bookmark on this year’s Book Week theme – ‘Reading is Magical’, and Year 5 & 6 students are encouraged to redesign the cover of Katrina Germein’s book “My dad thinks he’s funny’.
Service Opportunity
At PPN we like to include a service opportunity for our students during Book Week. This year we encourage students to donate a new or pre-loved children’s book that is in good condition during our chapel program on Thursday August 22. These will be passed along to Backpacks for Kids SA, who are a local charity that creates backpacks of everyday essentials that are distributed to children and families in the local community who are experiencing homelessness or have had to leave their homes due to family violence.
Scholastic Book Fair
This term, instead of our regular Book Club, we will be running a Book Fair during week 6. Book Fair is always a lot of fun and provides an opportunity for students and families to browse and purchase a great selection of wonderful books. Students will have the opportunity to do this at lunchtime from Wednesday August 28 – Friday August 30. On Wednsday August 28 the Book Fair will be open after school for a special family afternoon to allow students to bring their parents to visit.
