PPN Carols

What a way to start the festive season! It was so great to have so many of the PPN community on campus to sing and celebrate the Christmas story last Friday evening.

A huge thanks to the staff, students and families that spent many hours preparing for the event.

If you missed it, make sure you check out the video above!

Year 2 STEM Solar Ovens

This term the Year 2 STEM class has been learning about solar energy, and how dark colours absorb the sun's light creating greater heat, and reflected by lighter colours, making that surface cooler. Last week we put all our learning together to test out our pizza box solar ovens to make some S'mores (biscuits, marshmallow and chocolate sandwiches!) They certainly were a delicious way to learn about our amazing sun.

Choir Performance and Excursion

The Prescott Choir put everyone into the Christmas spirit when they presented a Christmas play and a set of beautiful songs for Chapel on Thursday, November 30th. Both performances were well attended by staff, students, and parents and we have received many positive comments about how much people enjoyed the performance.

A special thank you to Mrs Howard for all of her work with the costumes. The Prescott Choir wishes everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.

The next day the Choir was treated to a special excursion at the Roy Marten Reserve. The perfect weather was enjoyed by all. We really appreciate the assistance of the bus drivers and Mrs Carol Westbury who came to help supervise this fun event. Everyone looked forward to the traditional ice cream treat at the end. We look forward to having everyone back in the Choir next year and will really miss our talented year 6 students as they move into High School. We wish you the very best for 2024.

Christmas Nature Play

With a new month and season now upon us, we are well and truly into wrapping up our year at PPN and celebrating the Christmas season. It has been a wonderful year in the nature play space and I have enjoyed seeing the love for immersing in nature grow and develop in our students as the year has progressed. We have had a lot of fun, from water play, to creating with clay and other materials, learning about composting, planting a vegetable garden and so much more. I look forward to building on everything we have learnt this year in 2024 and encouraging more students to love the outdoors.

This week we had a Christmas theme in our Nature Play space. The students had recycled materials and pinecones to create Christmas decorations. Some students came up with a Christmas tree idea, and others created a mini-Christmas wreath, using a cardboard circle and natural materials. It was wonderful to see their creativity bloom once again in our nature play space for the final time in 2023. Have you tried making Christmas decorations out of natural or recycled pieces?
