The Life Giver…

I know there are so many who try to deceive, so many who try to throw you off the path, but today, I want to remind you who the true giver of life is! I want you to know that not only does life come from God. But so do all of those wonderful things in life!

Paul says in Galatians 5:22-23 that, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

I have heard this verse so many times, but it took me a long time to realise that Paul wasn’t equating peace, patience, etc, to fruits. He was saying that the fruit, or the result of the Holy Spirit living in your life is; love, joy, peace… etc. But have you ever considered that this might just mean that the fruits of the spirit are gifts from God to you when you choose Him? Now, I’m not saying that when we have God on our side, we will always be happy. We all go through ups and downs, challenges and victories.

But I am asking you to think about the possibility that no matter what the devil throws your way, you will always be able to count on God to give you love. Through life, God is the giver of joy! What else could result in Paul singing praises in prison after being severely beaten, even though that should never have happened because of his citizenship. He was chained in a prison, unable to sleep due to the cold floor and the chains. (Acts 16:16-40) Yet he sang praises at midnight, only joy from God could do such a thing!

When the road ahead is unsure, when it feels like everything around you is caving in, only God is the giver of peace in that moment. And He gives the only peace that you can get when there are waves crashing around you, but you know that God is with you in the boat. Likewise, He is the giver of patience, and He is also the ultimate example, because He is so very patient with us.

In the same way God gives us kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Today, I want to encourage you, not to let the busyness of life get in the way of you and God. If you are willing, take time out today to invite God into your life. Take time to speak to Him, let Him know what is going on in your life, and reconnect with the one person who knows everything, can understand you better than you understand yourself, and is always there to talk to.
