Red Pandas’ Elimination Final

Making it to the short-format Finals Series, the Red Pandas lost to Pedare Blue in a sudden-death Elimination Final last week.

Still plagued by injuries and absences, Jola played the entire game as a Red Panda (filling in from the Titans), affording us one sub and she worked hard running the length of the court, fighting for rebounds and scoring twice from the foul line.

Simon played his usual feisty game, top scoring for the Red Pandas and getting in foul trouble early, forcing him to moderate his defensive style for the remainder of the game.

Integral to one of the Red Pandas’ new set plays, Scout, capping off an amazing first season and with a very supportive weekly fan base, got into great offensive position and managed to get a few shots away against the lumbering Pedarians.

Also in her first season, Savannah, playing on a serious ankle injury, but not wanting to let the team down, managed to park her manners for the game, winning a number of rebounds and free-throws, capitalising from the line.

Jonah, trapped down low, managed to squeeze in his signature legs-and-out play and initiated some speedy transitions and fired off some mid-range shots, likewise scored for the Red Pandas.

Tanner also played well, pressuring the ball, double-teaming, forcing turnovers and displayed some red-hot Red Panda passes.

Being knocked out of the finals, there’s only a non-compulsory after-school team send-off this Wednesday to wrap up our season and year.

Please wash and return singlets to the front office ladies ASAP and watch out for 2019 Player Nominations.

Coach HATCHARD, signing off.
