Year 3's Confucius Institute Excursion

Late last term, the Year 3s visited The Confucius Institute to conclude their HASS unit called ‘Celebrations and Commemorations'. The students experienced playing Jianzi, one of the traditional games in China. They also had a go at Chinese painting, and were able to take home their creations.

The Year 3s also went to the Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery as an introduction to their Term 3 HASS program.

The students had a lovely time in these two venues, gaining new experiences, and learning about different cultures that we have in Australia.

Citrus Nature Play

Sweet, brightly coloured, and a burst of sunshine on a dreary winter day. Not only are citrus fruits fun and delicious, they have amazing health benefits that are specific to the needs our bodies have during winter. Did you know that one orange can have all the vitamin C you need in a day?

The students at Prescott were welcomed back to Term 3 with a burst of colourful citrus fruity goodness. They were excited to explore the container filled with brightly coloured oranges, lemons and limes, and discover the zesty lemon playdough. They also discovered the sweetness of a mandarin, and how you can cut out shapes from the skin of citrus fruits to make some colourful wintery decorations.

Isn't it amazing that we were provided with the right vitamins and minerals in citrus fruits to help us stay healthy and strong during these wintery months. What citrus fruit will you eat this week?
