Chaplain's Remarks

Chaplain_Miss_Potts.jpg

When I think of transformation, I think of a butterfly. For a butterfly to be created it goes through the process of metamorphosis. First, they are a caterpillar, then they spend time in a cocoon, and then, are reborn as a beautiful butterfly.

Like a butterfly, we too can go through the process of transformation. The transformation that we experience comes from God, He is our ultimate transformer.

The story of Zacchaeus the tax collector shows us just how God can transform someone’s life. Found in Luke 19, Zacchaeus climbs a tree to see Jesus when he was passing through Jericho. When Jesus sees him, He tells Zacchaeus to come down from the tree because He was going to stay at Zacchaeus' house. When Zacchaeus was confronted by the Lord, he immediately responded with, “Look, Lord! Here and now, I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

We can see in this story of Zacchaeus that he was taker - because of his job, and his greed, Zacchaeus took people’s money. But God transformed his life into a giver.

Just like God transformed the life of Zacchaeus, if we place all our faith and trust in God, He can, and will transform our lives into something we never imagined.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2
