Year 6 - Vintage Van Gogh

Year 6 had the great experience of having some artists from 'Vintage Van Gogh' come to school to guide us through how to recreate our own version of Van Gogh's famous 'Starry Night' painting. It was a unique experience which resulted in some great pieces of art! A big thanks to Mrs Isaac for making this event happen.

Year 3's Visit Birdwood Transport Museum

The Year 3's were blessed with fabulous warm weather for our excursion to the Birdwood Transport Museum last Wednesday. This excursion was a first for most students and they learnt how transport, gaming and technology, and jobs have changed in our community over time. The Hawkers Vans were a hit as the students explored the important role of hawkers in early Australia.

Year 6 Chef's For Father's Day

The Year 6s were busy measuring, pouring and sampling to create masterchef-like quality to bless their Father's with some Coconut Ice. We trust that all the dads out there were blessed and had a great Father's Day!

Hands-on Learning in Nature

The compelling fun of water play draws children to the water pump every playtime in our Nature Playspace at Prescott Primary Northern. The challenge is to master the art of channelling water into a dam and all efforts are put into the prevention of a dam breach. But oh, the squeals, shouting and laughter when the dam wall breaks and there is a torrent of water cascading down the slope into the sandpit.

As students try to manipulate the flow and motion of the water, they are laying the foundation for scientific concepts such as the understanding of physics principles. Students are participating in exploration and investigation of the world around them through play. Directing the flow of water, pouring, splashing, watching the effects of interventions on flow, and blocking the stream of water are all hands-on learning opportunities that create endless fun.
